The Czech Animation Festival will take place from Wednesday, 21 November untill Saturday, 24 November in the Lambert Puppet Theatre in Monkstown.
The festival is a celebration of the Czech tradition in animated films, a
tradition which has established an excellent reputation worldwide,
with Czech animated films and short stories winning awards at major
international festivals round the world. At the festival you will
have the opportunity to see an hour and a half of Vecernicek
- a household name in the Czech Republic and one of the most
outstanding examples of Czech animation. To generations of Czech
people, Vecernicek - very short, seven-minute bedtime stories
shown for children every evening at seven o'clock on Czech Television
- represents a part of their cultural heritage.
The festival is being organised in association with the Lambert Puppet Theatre and the Barretstown Gang Camp. The Barretstown Gang Camp, founded by Paul Newman in 1994, runs 10-day therapeutic recreation programmes throughout the summer for seriously ill children from Ireland and all over Europe in the magnificent and enchanting surroundings of Barretstown Castle.
