After the tournament we all should meet in the Stepaside Inn pub nearby for a chat and to award the best players with small prices.
Depending on the level of players signed up for this tournament, the "golf course" will be either 3-par golf course at Stepaside Golf Centre or Pitch & Put near to this centre. The green fee will be either EUR 6.50 (Pitch & Put - 18 holes) or EUR 8.50 (Stepaside 18 hole 3 par golf course) per player. In addition to this, you may try to hit few golf balls (~25) to warm up yourself with an advice of a qualified golf coach for just EUR 2.00. Golf clubs can be rented at the centre for a very modest fee (1.00-3.00 EUR).
Stepaside is a small but growing village in Dublin South area, about 2-3 miles from Leopardstown Racecourse onto the road to Enniskery. You can get bus number 44 from City Centre that brings you almost at the entrance of the Stepaside Golf Centre (schedule of bus 44 can be found at http://www.dublinbus.ie). The journey takes about 45-60 mins from City Centre, depending on the traffic.
The whole idea of this tournament is to bring together not only golfers but also people with no golf experience at all. This is the first year the golf tournament is going to be organised and we believe that it will become another regular event on our society's calendar.
If you are interested in attending this tournament, please, answer the following questions and either email them back to: treasurer@ic-ss.org or fax them to Jindrich at 01-2911003.
Everybody is welcome.
The Stepaside International Golf Centre was the perfect venue for the inauguration of the Irish Czech Golf Open.
The Event, weeks if not years in the planning, was anticipated by both golfers and golf afficiandoes. The event began with a "swing tune up" given by PGA professional Ed Petit -- trainer to the stars. Many a divot was taken on the practice range as the viewing public stayed well out of range.
The course was well seasoned and the Society would like to thank the ground crew for its excellent condition. Any chance of an easy round was soon dashed as mother nature roared on the first tee with hurricane force winds. Truly, this was the ultimate test of golf as the storm raged and Stepaside showed its teeth to even the most experienced golfer.
The Prasifka Dream Team managed to hold on to a 12 shot lead coming down the last fairway and finished the course in 3 over par.
After the golf, all golfers retired to the 19th hole at the Step Inn. Awards were given out, memories of missed shots were recalled, sorrows were drowned in lakes of Guinness -- and everyone looked forward to the next Society Event: an Irish Czech & Slovak Society Surfing Competition.
