IRISH CZECH & SLOVAK SOCIETY NEWSLETTER
Annual IC&SS Barbecue
Yes folks, it's that time of year again, when the massed ranks of the
IC&SS membership gather in droves to view a pig being roasted.
This event will take place in the fine garden of the Embassy of the
Slovak Republic, where a pig and other meats will be cooked by our
master chef and society President Bill Prasifka. Asked for a comment
about the upcoming food extravaganza, the President replied "if it
fits I'll grill it!"
The Society (Bill Prasifka, food general) will provide, as usual,
the famous, gorgeous and delicious "prasatko" (pork) and a white meet
(probably chicken). We would like to ask people to bring some refreshment
and food items, like salads, desert, ice cream etc., to improve our food
variety. Everybody is welcome. Prices will be low (£5 adults,
£2children), food will be great, and the musically inclined will
be welcome.
Venue: Saturday 14 July 2001 at 3 pm - Slovak Embassy,
20 Clyde Road, Dublin 4.

Film - Samotari (Loners)
Film by David Ondricek
Loners chronicles a couple of weeks in the lives of seven young people from Prague.
As they try to escape the loneliness of their lives through various relationships,
we become aware of the chaos in their lives and of their minds. Their interaction
leads them in a cycle not only of frustration but back to the inherent
loneliness to which they seem destined. While this may seem a despairing
tale, Loners also has a morbidly dark sense of humour making it a funny
and revealing film.
Screening will take place in UCD, Arts Building, Room B 204 on Thursday 26 July 2001 at 8 pm
All members and friends are welcome.
